Blogs in Space

Anousheh Ansari plans to write some very unusual blog entries. The Iranian born Texas telecommunications tycoon may be only the fourth person to pay millions for a flight…

…but she will be the first person to blog from space:

Ms Ansari says she will write the first blog from space. She says that her ultimate goal is to bring her experience and “the ability to fly to space to more and more people and to inspire young woman and men to go into the fields related to space.”

She has already attracted praise from Iranians and Americans alike on her blog.

The blog, spaceblog.xprize.org, is thus far being manned by Anousheh’s personal “ground control,” but it will be interesting to see if the blogging plan goes forward and how it plays out (both technically and in terms of content and tone). Perhaps we can expect a bit of “One giant blog for mankind”… but then, considering that Anousheh signed off from Earth-blogging with “Live Long and Prosper, my friends” perhaps we can expect a bit of “Blogs… In… Spaaaaace!” As far as I’m concerned, the more cultural mashup we get in our historical documents, the better.
