IE2005: Australasian Conference on Interactive Entertainment

The Second Australasian Conference on Interactive Entertainment is being held in Sydney, November this year. The organisers are currently calling for papers and industry speakers. The conference is described on the site as follows:

The Australasian Conference on Interactive Entertainment is a cross-disciplinary conference that will bring together researchers from artificial intelligence, cognitive science, media studies, drama, HCI, psychology, interactive media, cultural studies, graphics, audio, as well as researchers from other disciplines working on new game specific technologies or providing critical analysis of games and interactive environments.

The Program Committee is a great mix of academics with the following notables: Marc Cavazza, Chris Chesher, Chris Crawford, Magy Seif El-Nasr, Michael Mateas, Marie-Laure Ryan, Nicolas Szilas and R. Michael Young (who will be delivering the key-note). It looks like a cracker of an event that I will definately be attending. I’ll have a go at getting a paper together in time for the 15th June deadline too.

The lineup looks fantastic, Christy. I’m also tempted to apply just so that we could all hang out at it! Of course, the ticket is nothing to sneeze at. Do you ever attend conferences in the U.S.?

Hey Jeremy. It would be great if you could come on down. I do intend to come over to the US, but not until I’ve got some good research findings to present. That’ll be another year, I presume.
